As an artist, I harness the ever-changing urban landscape as my canvas, creating intricate, hand-poured patterns with colored sand on pavement. These vibrant, organic shapes serve as performative interventions, disrupting urban monotony and bridging the gap between public art and intervention. My creative process melds natural, scientific, and technological influences, drawing from ancient traditions, the fluidity of urban environments, pop culture colors, fractal designs, and circuitry motifs. These elements fuse into a symphony of botanical geometry and cross-cultural metaphors, extending from creatures in the ocean depths, a language of electrical impulses, carnivorous plants and systems of molecular connectivity.
I’m exploring blockchain technology not only to document and preserve these ephemeral works but also to gamify the experience. By tokenizing my sand art, I create a unique fusion of art and technology, challenging conventional art ownership and permanence concepts, and inviting interactive, thought-provoking engagement.
Expanding my repertoire, I craft works on canvas and carved wood, using colored sand with a clear acrylic binder. This approach allows for exploration in relief carving and 3D surface art, pushing beyond the constraints of traditional rectangular frames. The textured, dynamic interplay of sand on these surfaces adds depth and tactile quality, transforming each piece into a testament to the versatility of sand as an artistic medium. My work, spanning ephemeral urban installations and enduring sculptures, invites viewers to contemplate the dichotomy between the transient experience and the permanent in art and life itself.
